A quote that defines me is "If it doesn't hurt you at all, you don't love it, you wont do everything you can for it, and you will never be remembered for it". I run everyday with the intent to create a better life. Meaning I will never stand still, I will never stop trying to improve myself for the things that I love. I take "Born to Run" to a whole other level. I feel that running pushes me to be better and I love it. During my freshman year I ran just to be fit and make some friends and because I liked running in junior high. It was during my sophomore year that my cross country captain, Brandon Gomez, changed my focus and redefined what running meant to me. He told me if you love it, go out and be the best, period. He started training me, and started to see me get better. He helped me realize my true potential if I would just be devoted to my training and make running my passion. From that point I threw myself into running. I ran about 7-9 miles per day and I started to see my endurance and times improve, which made me even more motivated. At the beginning of the first practice of my junior year our coach said "give this run all you've got". So that is what I did. My efforts over the summer had paid off, as I was able to beat the fastest guy on the team. That feeling of success because I had worked my hardest was the greatest feeling in the world. I am very committed to working my hardest for myself as well as my team. I aspire to continue my growth and be more competitive and hopefully someday be in a position to help others reach their goals. To redefine running.
