My name is Nathan Stewart and I have a passion for Track and Field. You could say I had a late start in sports, as I only started as a 7th grader. However, between playing football and running track for school and summer club track, I kept very busy. My interest in sprinting grew increasingly each year, and I decided summer of 2012 to focus completely on track by training year-round so I quit football after my sophomore year.
My coaches and teammates have often commented on how motivated and dedicated I am for the sport I love. I dream of one day competing in collegiate track and field, with aspirations to compete professionally some day. As of 2011-2012 sophomore year, my PR in the 100 was a 10.96 F.A.T. / 10.92,10.80, and 10.63 by hand times in official meet scenarios. In 2011 we were T.A.A.F state champions in the 4x100 with a time of 43.03. I've been on varsity since my sophomore year for high school. My GPA is 3.87 unweighted and I take honors / AP courses and curriculum for all but one class. My class ranking rose almost to top 15% this past year. School is equally important to me and I put a lot of energy into everything I do. At this time, I am planning to pursue a BS in Nursing, BSN; and possibly continue with graduate studies to be a Nurse Practitioner, Physicians Assistant, or Rehabilitation Therapy.
As a junior, I ran cross country and supplemented during that time with additional Sprint training sessions. After the cross country season was over, I began training with Coach Don Hicks out of Keller, TX, for some specialized training and just finished competing in three indoor track meets. Each one resulted in a strong performance ranking although this was my first full season indoors. The meets I attended were the Texas A & M High School Invitational 2013 60m and 200m, then the Arkansas High School Invitational 2013 60m and 200m, and then the Carl Lewis High School Invitational 2013 60m Prelims and Semi-finals. My Junior year of high school track Spring of 2013 I did have a good season with 100M PR of 10.73, and showed more consistency with another 10.99, and 11.00 three times. Although I did not run well enough to make it out of district last year, I am more determined than ever to succeed. It is true that our district was redrawn to become the most competitive one in Texas, and I know if I had run to my potential I would have advanced on to State. I did compete well with the 4 x 200 relay which made it to State placing 6th. Next year as a Senior I plan to run the open 200 primarily, because I did not have the opportunity to establish open times last year. During this summer 2013 I competed at the National level in Junior Olympics 100m for AAU, and 4 x 100m relay in USATF Junior Olympics.
At this time I am beginning my Senior Year of High School 2013-2014. My plan is to train hard in the off season with my new club coach, Mike Hart of Dallas Gold Track Club. After the indoor track season last season, I started training with him for the summer track season. I will prepare for 2014 Indoor season and transition into my final UIL track season. Overall, I want to continue to improve my performance consistency, continue a steady trend to PR, and stay healthy. I am not doing Cross Country as a Senior, as it turned out to be counter-productive for me as a sprinter.
I have more postings on YouTube found by searching for 34 Trackstar by nathan stewart Mansfield and I wear a black and gold or silver with red uniform // then this past year indoors black shorts blue and white top // school the black with gold M // summer 2013 wore black shorts with neon yellow top and also wore royal blue shorts with grey top. UPDATE AS OF 4/26/2014: ~~UPDATE AS OF 4/26/2014: Video camera stolen so lost indoor season videos. Ran 60m and 200m indoors at Tx A&M, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Oklahoma is only video I have. 200m indoors / outdoors I hit 22.85 multiple times, 100m best was 10.65 fat, with two other 10.95.... I am looking forward to resuming strength training since I have not focused on weights since the sophomore year. I feel that I will see gains with combined strength and new found knowledge of technique. Planning to participate one last year in Summer Track AAUTF and USATF this summer of 2014. I am starting strength training now and should get at least 6 weeks in before competition.
