My first love in sports was baseball all the way through Little League. I trained constantly to be a left-handed pitcher and was determined to make it to college. It wasn’t until Jr. High that the door to cross country and track opened and I realized that I love to run. All of the years and mental anguish of standing on that pitcher’s mound, I believe gave me the ability to run through the pain and compete at a higher level.
My goals changed after my 9th grade baseball/track season. I could see the potential in running and know with my commitment to success and hard work, running at the collegiate level is where I want to be. I gave up baseball to fully commit to running. I believe running at the collegiate level could change my life.
I train hard year round to run. I am very dedicated to myself and my team and strive for success. I am a leader, very open and coachable. I have a great work ethic and look forward to being one of the hardest working recruits you can find. I am very meticulous and want to understand my workouts and how they are affecting my body and benefiting my running. I strive to know everything I can to make me a better runner.
My commitment in the classroom mirrors my work on the track. My goals for my education are limitless, and I work to maintain a high GPA and good grades. I am currently a member of the Future Farmer’s of America and show pigs for my younger brother.
I want to attend a college where I can be pushed hard in the classroom just as if we are on the track. I look to fulfill my dream, work hard, have a college education, and make my family and friends proud.
“The two most important days of your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.” Mark Twain.
