Personal Statement
My future goals is being successful not only in track but in academics. My parents worked very hard trying to make sure me and my brothers received a good education. It was hard moving from New Orleans to Texas due to being away from family and friends. I've been working my tail off to become something in life. Track is something that I was born to do. As a freshman, I was only focus on playing football and basketball and never thought that I could excel at Track until I meet Coach Gubbs and Coach Mercer. The coaches saw something in me and decided to place me on the team. My first race wasn't the best but with the help of my coaches and fellow teammates, I was pushed to be the best. I started working very hard on position and speed. As time went on I became faster and faster. My times started to drop and my hard work never stop. Also, I was faced with a challenge academically. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in 7th grade. I struggled with reading during my 7th grade year. Once the diagnosis was made and I learned more about resources that could help, I took every advantage of the assistance provided to me. I have been successful throughout my high school years and have been recognized for Academic Excellence in American Sign Language and World History. Will I be a great candidate for your team? YES! Because I believe in myself that I can overcome any obstacle and achieve any goals that I set for myself. I’m very confident that I would be a great asset to the team.
