Personal Statement

My name is Brandon Juedeman, and I attend Ogden High located in Ogden Utah. I run track and cross country for my school and will be graduation in the class of 2016. Currently, I take the honors, AP, and Concurrent Enrollment classes for my high school. The Concurrent Enrollment classes are for Weber State. I have taken in interest in running because I find it enjoyable as well as a challenge. Most of the running I do is for my high school but I have also made some accomplishments of my own like taking second in my age group in my first half marathon. For my season I ran top ten at both City County and Region in the junior varsity boy's race. By the end of the season I was running Varsity at Nike Regionals. Before the season I seat a goal to run on the Varsity team and run a time of 16:50. I fell a little short of y goals by running varsity in a total of four races and ran my best race at the Davis High Home Course at a time of 16:59. While I may not have made my season goals I did learn many valuable lessons about racing and hard work that I can use in my up coming track season. Another reason I choose to run is because I want to go to college. College seems like a great option for myself because it will challenge me to not only help better myself and my future, but I am looking for a University that will meet my goal of working on my major in the Engineering or Medical degree. For me, college is a door that will lead to success. In my free time I like to do outdoor activities such as snowboarding, canoeing, and running of course. While I enjoy a good outdoor activity, I also like things as simple as reading books or watching television. The hardest thing for me is deciding on what I want to do with my time because I want to do so much but feel as though I don't have enough time to do all of it. I started running track in eighth grade in order to keep me in shaper for soccer. From there I continued to play soccer and run on the side until I went to Nike Regionals for the first time my sophomore year. I  was absolutely amazed at how competitive running really was. Ever since I can remember I have always been a competitive person. So with the persuasion of a couple running team mates and coaches under the promise that I would make a great runner, I quit soccer and decided to run. Running has taught me many things about myself as a person but the one thing I have learned is that I have a sickening work ethic and will try as hard as I can to accomplish my goals.
