Personal Statement
My name is Austin Rucker and I am a senior at The Potomac School, a rigorous independent school located in Mclean, VA. I only began running track and field this past year as a junior, playing baseball in years prior. With just one season of indoors and outdoors, I was able to run 50.21 in the 400m and 36.98 in the 300m. I was also a New Balance Nationals Outdoor 2018 qualifier and a MAC Conference champion. As a junior, I earned all-league titles in the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay as well as second-team all-state for the 4x400m relay. This year, I plan to run well under the 50-second mark and qualify again for Nationals. In college, I hope to improve upon my success while also adding to the team as a good leader and competitor. I am very dedicated as both a student and an athlete, earning a 27 on the ACT and accumulating a 3.0 GPA over 3 years of high school. I hope to be a great addition to whatever college that I decide to go to and plan on continuing my efforts to improve athletically and academically during my senior year as well as in college.
