It has always been a dream of mine to run for a Division I (or II) University or College and experience the joys and challenges of a close team who also share my passion for running and competing. My collegiate goals are to break the 4 minute mile barrier and 1:45 in the 800 meters. I think I am different from other runners because all my high school years I have been a part of a two-man team, and it requires a lot of extra hard work and self-discipline to compete with those who have the advantage of a full team. However, I am going into my senior year now and have still managed to put up times of 4:29 in an actual mile and 2:01 in the 800 meters. I feel like in college with great coaching and a competitive team I could improve immensely starting my freshman year. I have been injury free throughout my whole career due to well-rounded fitness and experience from many other sports that require good speed (such as basketball, boxing, and football). Academically, I have a GPA of 3.91 and scored 1180 on the SAT. I can't wait to pursue a double major in Exercise Science and Business and contribute to excellent College Track and Cross Country teams.
Thanks so much,
Elijah Owings
