My name is Landon Hamblin and I am currently finishing my 11th year of high school at Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, WA. I am a Running Start student at Grays Harbor College and I am going there full time with 15 credit hours a quarter. I am taking all my prerequisite math, science, English, Psychology, CNA, etc.. to apply for the nursing program at the end of my graduation year (2026). After 2 years of GHC nursing program and take the RN licensure test, I plan to attend a University or other college in WA state to get my BSN in Nursing. I may continue studies to become a mid-wife to assist in delivering babies or I may study to be a nurse anesthesiologist.
For athletics, I plan to throw the hammer in college for a University/College that accepts my DTA Nursing Transfer degree from Grays Harbor College after the 2 years post high school.
I want to get a sport's scholarship to afford to go to a University for their nursing program and also to participate as an athlete in their track and field program.
I am a hard worker in athletics. I take every challenge I can to achieve new records and I get along great with my teammates and coaches. I help junior high and new freshman throwers in the shot put and discus (which I participate in with my high school Varsity team) because I know what it was like to try to learn the positioning and spins on both of these throwing events.
I have been participating in throwing the hammer for the past 2 school years (10th and 11th grade) through private lessons. I compete as an unattached athlete if my high school is not involved in that particular competition/meet. I enjoy throwing the hammer. I am a strong guy with a love for weight lifting, power lifting, power cleaning, and deadlifting. I know working my body and becoming more flexible and practicing more explosive movements builds the power and flexibility I need to increase my throwing distance. I am one if the top hammer throwers in WA state at this time (05/06/25). I recently made the Nationals list with my 12 lb hammer throw of 160.1.
I have throwing goals in 3 events for the rest of this post season track year as well as for my senior year of high school. I work hard in school and I currently have a 3.73. I am taking tough chemistry and biology classes, such as Anatomy. But I am a strong student and I know I can achieve great things for myself.
