Jaxson Porterfield '16 Recruiting Profile

My collegiate goals have drastically changed in the last 3 months.  My original intent was to pursue an Engineering degree.   However, after a freak accident two days before the state track meet May 2015, surgery and physical rehabilitation I have realized I want to be involved in the medical field as well.   Through these experiences I now see a need for more effective and efficient products and  procedures for sports injuries.  I see myself utilizing both Engineering and Medical degrees to obtain this goal.   Through great teachers, coaches and peers I have found personal growth as a student, athlete and mentor and feel it is my obligation to continue the mantra of "paying it forward".    There are a few key notions that have stuck with me over the many years of sports,  "knowledge is power", "what you put in for practice you get out in competition"  "enjoy the process, enjoy the game" .  In the end, I know that as a positive leader, team player and dedicated student athlete  I will be an influential part of your program.
