Personal Statement
~~My current goal is to beat the Pasco High School 400 M record (set in 1985) before I graduate. I am very focused in practice and at meets so I can reach my goal. I am working as a captain to encourage my teammates to set goals and work hard at every practice so they can get faster. My teammates say I am determined and motivated; but I also have a sense of humor and enjoy making them laugh. I would like to attend a college/university that has an excellent sprinter coach to teach me all they know so I can reach my full potential. I want to have teammates that will push me and challenge me at practice every day so I will continue to get better and I want to do the same in return. I recognize that I still have room for improvement (especially my block starts) and I would like to train with the best! I want to be part of a program with a culture of success.
For the last year I have balanced school, basketball, track and a part-time job at a local gym. Sometimes it is difficult but it has taught me how to manage my time, be responsible, and prioritize. On a personal note: I am prompt (usually early actually), a good listener, and compassionate (I always seem to be pulling for the underdog).
I have excellent attendance and work hard in the classroom. I communicate with my teachers and recognize the importance of being respectful and having a positive attitude towards them. I am comfortable asking my teachers for help and will go in early or stay late if needed so I can make sure I understand the material. I always do my homework, but struggle sometimes with tests.
I am undecided as far as a career goes but am leaning towards business/marketing as a major. Financial assistance is a must as I will not be able to attend without it.
