Personal Statement

As a freshman entering high school I had no intention of becoming a committed track athlete. In middle school it was always just an excuse to hangout with friends and have fun jumping around but with each year that passes I found more and more of a passion for the sport as a whole. This last year, my junior year, has been a trip for me. I would have never thought I would be a sprinter, much less one of high enough caliber to make it to the finals of the state meet in and three of my sprints, along with long jump. Leaving state without a gold medal was one of the hardest and most motivating experiences of my life. Our 4x1 team placed 2nd with the second fastest time in meet history; personally I got 5th in the 100, 6th in LJ and I false started in the finals of the 200. I'll be back this year, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to compete in college.
