Hello, I'm Luke Sampson and I run cross country and track for the Little Chute Mustangs. I am currently a junior at Little Chute High School and will be graduating in 2016.
Recently, I have started to realize my potential as a runner and a leader. This past cross country season I came off of a newly designed running schedule that continued to challenge me as the summer went on. This proved to upgrade my abilities, seeing as I improved a minute and 14 seconds from my previous cross country season. My spring track season was also a success. I made it to the Wisconsin State Track and Field Championships; however I didn't perform as well as I would have liked to, taking 15th place as a sophomore. With the upcoming track season coming up I feel like I have a chip on my shoulder as I undergo yet another tough offseason of training.
This past cross country season definitely was a change of roles going from a underclassmen to an upperclassmen. I believe that it was a great thing for me because I really opened up to being a leader of the team, during competition and outside of competition. I was recently named a captain and the MVP of my cross country team.
As for my academics, I have a strong realization of how important my grades are and they are always my first priority. I currently have a 4.0 and I am the first in my class of about 120 students. I just recently got my ACT results back, receiving a composite score of 24, which is a little disappointing, but this was just a raw score with no preparation. I plan on taking the ACT again in the Spring, with preparation.
As for my future, I am looking to be a part of a Division I or Division II school. Most people say that they have been dreaming to go to a Division I college since they were little, but that's not the case with me. I have recently found a lot of confidence in myself and was opened up to the idea of competing at the collegiate level of something a have a great passion for, running. I want to go to a school that I can help out as much as possible in competition, and that I can hopefully be an effective leader in some day.
Thank you for your consideration.
Luke Sampson
