Personal Statement
During my 16’s year of playing volleyball, I started to develop an intense back pain which got worse and worse as the season progressed and unfortunately by the time nationals came around I could barely jump without being in pain. As it turns out, because of the amount of volleyball I was playing, I had developed a stress fracture in my lower spine. The injury heavily affected my life, I missed nationals, had to leave high performance and I missed out on the tryouts of my club, it felt like the end for my volleyball life. But I managed to pull through. Though it took me four months to recover in addition to missing so many opportunities because of it, I’ve also gotten a lot stronger and better than before I was injured.
In a way, my injury has sparked my interest in medicine and biology and I'm looking for a program that that will fit me both academically and athletically. I've taken the time to improve my mentality, commitment, and character to best support any team I play for. If you want someone who is able to pull through the worst of the worst and play at the highest level, I believe I have the ability and I am the one you are looking for.
