Personal Statement
I have been playing volleyball since I was in 5th grade. I played 6 sports through middle school and volleyball has always been by far my favorite. In high school I decided to focus on volleyball and have played club in the fall and summer every year. I play on the varsity team at my high school as well, and starting in sophomore year I was captain. I want to continue to be the best I can be, and aspire to play at the collegiate level. My coaches have always said I am very coachable, I learn fast, I'm responsible, and I am willing to do whatever asked of me with no complaints. Many parents, teachers, and coaches speak to my attitude and kindness as a strength. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am willing to put in the dedication and focus to excel.
I have always had a naturally high jump, partly due to my very long legs. I am quick to respond on the court, and have a high volleyball IQ. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the best attitudes on the court, while also working hard and being consistent through focus and practice.
In the classroom, I have a strong academic track record. I maintain a high GPA, take honors courses, and excel in math and science. I balance studying with a lot of extra curricular activities, including multiple sports, working and refereeing for the girls games (I am one of the few student paid refs). I am seen as a leader in my school and have great references from teachers and coaches.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the volleyball court. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all peers and make a difference in the world through my presence and attitude with others.
