Update: Blake has decided to attend SBCC for the Fall of 2016 and play volleyball there.
I would love the opportunity and challenge of playing on a D1 CA school, but would also consider attending a smaller school with a quality Biology/pre-med program and a competitive volleyball schedule where I could use by versatility as a hitter and a setter. I just uploaded a video of a hit from my last game; thanks to my dad for taking the video. :)
My name is Blake Lockhart, and I love to play volleyball; hitting, setting, serving, indoor and on the beach. this year I was able to attend the JO's in Ohio, which was amazing; I just uploaded a video from one of the games where my team moved up from ranked 40th to 15th I think, so fun.
I am 6'5" 190lb (6'8 wing span). outside hitter and setter, but willing to play opposite hitter as well. I am a senior at Santa Ynez Valley High School, CA this year, so class of 2016. As a freshman at Santa Ynez I started on the varsity team as an outside hitter. As a sophomore I joined the Santa Barbara 18's volleyball club team and improved immensely, and also currently I'm playing for Santa Barbara again (SBVC). Last year my high school team ran a 6-2 where i set and led our team in assists and kills as an outside hitter and I was awarded co-mvp of the league sharing it with senior Henry Cheri of Templeton High school, who is playing at UCSB this year. In my Junior Year my team easily won league and lost in the semifinals of CIF. I was awarded All-League as well as All-CIF The summer of my Sophomore year I also attended Pepperdine Volleyball Camp where I improved. Besides volleyball, I also play basketball for my high school, competing at the vaisity level. In the summers I play beach volleyball competing with the CBVA and qualified to play in the Cal Cup beach volleyball championship this summer with my partner; only 10 teams in the state for 18U were invited to play. I feel I could have a positive impact on a team not only with my athletic ability but also with my leadership, hard work, and a positive and uplifting attitude. I would enjoy attending a college near the coast and preferably CA because I love the beach and ocean, but would be completely open to other areas. I am serious about my school work and achieved a 4.5 my first quarter of my Junior Year and have a goal of increasing that. I would love to play college volleyball at a high level and believe that I will be able to help a team mentally and physically.
Recently, I attended a youth weekend event with our church youth group and afterwards one of the adult leaders sent this text message to my Dad: "Blake was GREAT this weekend! You have a very special son. He is a great influence on the rest of the kids and a special leader."
