Trent Lingruen '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Trent Lingruen. I am a 6'2", 185 lb Junior at North Tahoe High School up in Lake Tahoe, California, graduating in the spring of 2017.  I am looking forward to attending a college in the Fall of 2017 which is near to my home, near to the beach (I play competitive Beach Volleyball Doubles), and where I can continue to contribute in basketball, baseball or football field while earning a solid college degree.

The most salient aspect of my resume is my versatility and natural athletic ability when compared to other athletes. I play lots of sports and am accomplished in all of them because I am adaptable, coachable and have natural athletic ability which not many one-sport athletes possess. 

I have been on the Varsity Basketball Team since I was a freshman ... as a oint guard, a shooting guard and this year as a senior, as our "Big Man".  I was named MVP of the team senior year, averaging 19.6 pts per game and leading the league in rebounds, steals, and blocked shots, and in the top five in the league in assists. I was second leading scorer and was voted by the coaches “Most Improved Player” as a sophomore; and was named “Best Offensive Player” as a junior.  Last summer I played for the "775 NV Elite" AAU team out of Carson City, Nevada. On this team I traveled to Anaheim in the Summer of 2015 to compete in two large basketball tournaments at the American Sports Center.  For the summer 2016, I was scheduled to play for "TK Basketball" U17 AAU Travel team, but - due to lack of numbers - the team disbanded, so instead I attended two Individual Showcases this summer: Ryan Silver Elite 100 at Pomona-Pitzer College in July, and Point Loma Nazarene University Elite Camp in August.  I continue to work out regularly with Tim Kelly at Incline High School.  

I also have been a starter on the NTHS Varsity Baseball team since my freshmen year - as a senior, I am our #1 pitcher and also play shortstop, second, third base, and center field.   With a record of 3-15 in 2015, I was named by the conference coaches Second Team All Conference, and with a record of 9-9 in 2016, I was named First Team All Conference.  

I also tried out for the football team for the first time my senior year (never having put on pads before!) and quickly won a starting spot on the team on both offense and defense. I was also the starting kicker, and I regularly kicked 40+ yards. I guess my many years playing goalie in soccer paid off with my having a big boot for kicking; and my long arms,  good hand-eye coordination, and vertical jump paid off as a wide receiver!  

My cumulative GPA is 3.6 out of 4.0 and I have made the Honor Roll every semester since 9th grade. My extracurricular activities include Band, Athletes Committed, and assistant coaching basketball for the local Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
