I am Jacob Gregg Tyrus Gaugh, I am a junior at Falcon High School in Peyton, CO. I am currently part of the TCV (Team Colorado Volleyball) club and am on the 18 black team. Some influences in my life include my mother and father who have always pushed me hard whether it be in school, on the court, or everyday life. I've always strived to be successful no matter what I'm doing. I believe everybody who wants a future needs an education. I work hard to complete my schoolwork to get the best grades possible and I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.4. I am also apart of AFJROTC and I complete 15 community service hours a semester. I also volunteer for a friend of my fathers training dogs. My academic goals are straightforward; maintain good grades, graduate, and eventually play volleyball for a college willing to take me in and get a degree.
I first started playing volleyball my freshman year of high school. I first gained an interest watching my sister and mother play so I decided to join the club at my school. I started to become a better player practicing everyday which only increased my interest. My club participated a couple tournaments and a trip to Denver for the Colorado Crossroads tournament. I condition myself daily going to the gym, and physical training through my AFJROTC program. I've had to overcome many obstacles, the main one being myself. I've always strived to do better and be a better person. To be successful and when I'm not successful I push harder to reach my goals.
Volleyball is unlike any other sport I've played. I've never been so driven to adapt, overcome, and practice harder to become a better player. I've also learned that I can influence and teach other people about the sport. I also listen carefully to all of my coaches because I strive to learn as much as I can about the sport and it makes me a better player mentally. I am also disciplined and responsible. I'm a team player, uplifting and kind. I've always had hustle on and off of the court. Having to balance school, work, volleyball and working out have all made me responsible with good time management skills. I am willing to go the extra mile to succeed.
