My goal is to attend a college with great academics where I can get a science degree and play volleyball at a high level. Since eighth grade, every summer, my friends and I would attend a four-day volleyball camp at Springfield College. It was always a fun sport for me, however, basketball was my main sport. I made the basketball team my freshman year, and at the end of the season, my coach told me that it would be tough for me to make it next year. That's when I decided that I would work every day to get better. I would spend several hours a day practicing, jumping, and doing pushups. I made the basketball team my sophomore year, which taught me that if I work hard to get better every day, I can achieve anything. During my sophomore year of volleyball, I started to fall in love with the sport. All the hours I had spent working on my jumping translated into volleyball, and I made varsity that year. That's when I decided to make volleyball my main sport and start playing Husky Volleyball. As I got better at the sport I started falling in love with the sport even more, and I used what I had learned from basketball to get better every day. My work ethic and drive to get better are what makes me different than other athletes. I also have learned how to be a leader on and off the court, and how to keep the energy high. Whenever anybody on the team messes up, including me, the first thing I say is "next play". I don't get upset at my mistakes, and I am always worried about getting better and winning the next point, which would make me a good candidate for your team. I love the feeling of a competitive environment, and I love pushing others and getting pushed by others so we can improve as much as we possibly can.
This year, my goal was to get all-conference and all-state, and to help my team win a state championship. Sadly, the season has been postponed, so that may not be possible. If our season does get pushed into the summer, there will be no state championships, so my goal will be to help our team have an undefeated season. If it is canceled, then I will improve every day so that I will be ready to win a state championship my senior season. I hope to earn a spot on your team and help your team become successful. Thank you for your consideration.
