Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Daniel Beaton. My ideal college experience is obtaining a good education while at the same time pursuing my passion for volleyball. Although not fully decided on a major, I have a long-standing interest in the creation of clean energy since building a functioning miniature wind turbine in 6th grade as a science fair project. I also have interest in the fields of athletic training and sports management. Upon graduating, my goal is to be able to provide a comfortable lifestyle while raising a family and coaching volleyball.
In the classroom I respect my teachers and work hard to produce good work. I am a solid student that works best in groups. I help bring the group together and create a comfortable space where we can express ideas and then work as a team to create something we can be proud of. I would thrive in an environment where teachers are easily accessible when I need help.
Regarding my volleyball interests, I am looking for a team that competes to win but is also about having fun, staying in shape and building character. I have been playing volleyball for 10 years including club ball since age 12 and really love the sport. I enjoy being part of a team and around people that appreciate the sport as much as I do . I am always competitive and believe I am able to take any team to the next level with my energy and effort. On and off the court I stay positive and encourage my team mates. I am a consistent, well rounded player able to play all positions. I played libero at JNCs in 14s Club. Now, however, my prefered position is pin hitter - outside or opposite. I am an unselfish player that is willing to put aside my own glory in favor of the success of the team. Regarding my role in holding teams together, I have been referred to as “the glue" by Kevin Wong, professional beach volleyball player/former olympian who commentates televised Hawaii high school games,. Throughout my volleyball career, I have been fortunate to be a part of very successful teams and hope to continue that legacy into collegiate competition as well.
Thank you for your interest in my profile, I look forward to talking to you!
