Personal Statement
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. My goals for college are to create a positive impact on the community, to benefit the team, to get a great education to establish my future, and to create friendships that will last a lifetime.
I am a starter for Ultimate Volleyball Club, and we took First Place in the 2018 USAV Boys’ Winter National Tournament, and First Place in the 2018 Dennis Lafata Tournament. I also attended the USA Volleyball High Performance program during summer of 2017.
My major athletic interest is playing volleyball. I began playing volleyball for my seventh grade junior high team, and when the school season was over, I sought out a travel team. I tried out for the Ultimate Volleyball team in Chicagoland and they put me right on the starting 8th grade team. My first year I played right-side on the top 14s team in my club as a 13 year old, where we placed 23rd in the open division at Nationals. Next on the same team, Ultimate 14 Gold, we double qualified at McCormick Place and in St. Louis. That year at Nationals we placed 13th in the open division. When 15s came around we improved much more, we won the entire McCormick Place tournament without dropping a set, and double qualified again in St. Louis, where we got third place. At Nationals that year we won the silver bracket, making us 9th in the nation. In addition to playing indoor volleyball, in the summer I play beach volleyball to help improve on my volleyball ability.
I have been an athlete since my parents signed me up for soccer in Kindergarten. I played travel soccer, basketball, and football. I even was the tight end for the New Lenox Mustangs when we won a National Football Championship. When I was a freshman, I was invited to join the Varsity football team when Lincoln-Way West went to the State Championship. Volleyball is, by far, my favorite sport and I excel as a setter. This season, the league coaches honored me with the Best Server in the League award. During school season I was also placed on the All-Tournament Team at the Lincoln-Way East Tournament. TheLincoln-Way West Warrior won Regionals this year, which is the farthest LWW has ever been!
I have a 4.524 GPA, and Lincoln-Way West High School gave me the Academic Excellence Award and the Scholar-Athlete Award. I am also active in my community, and I will achieve Eagle Scout in 2018.
