My name is Luke Sackmann, and I am a 6'1" 175lb outside hitter for the class of 2020. I am currently a junior at Oswego High School in Oswego, Illinois. In 2016, my Sports Performance Volleyball team won AAU nationals, and I received the All American award for outside hitter. In 2017, as a freshman at Oswego High School, I was a starter on our JV team. During 2018, as a sophomore, I was a starter on varsity, and received an All Tournament award. Also, I made 16 Elite at Sports Performance Volleyball, and we placed 14th in the open division at nationals. This year, I am 17 and playing for Sports Performance's 18 Bravo team. My passion for the sport has led me to develop more technical skills, allowing me to equally compete with outsides that are taller than me. In the summers I attend the Benedictine first contact camps, and would consider myself a good all around player. On the court I am a level headed athlete. I do not let my emotions about the game control my actions on the court. This means that I can be relied on in high pressure situations, and will never have a bad attitude that could bring down the team morale.
Along with my commitment to volleyball, I am very focused on my academics, and take them very seriously. I am not yet sure what I would like to major in, therefore I have worked hard to maintain a 3.9 GPA throughout high school. I have also challenged myself with multiple Honors and AP classes each year. I am looking forward to challenging myself academically, and athletically in college.
