When I’m on the court, I am a leader. I communicate with my teammates on what needs to be accomplished and how we can accomplish it as a team. This includes specific plays to run, serving zones, and open spots that I may have noticed. A major key to performing to the best of our ability is communication. No matter what team I play on, I put my teammates first. This means perfecting my pass so the outside can get a kill, screaming “tip“ to the middle when the block is too strong, and congratulating my teammates with the most spirited attitude so they feel confident to make another success.
As a confident and headstrong player, I value the idea of respect. Respect for my coaches, my teammates, refs, and anyone who may be watching. This significant feeling of maturity and trust within my team is a characteristic that sets me apart from the rest. Without respect there is no flow with the team and the sets we play. Respect is crucial to everyone’s attitude and morale that will make or break a game. Academically, I feel the same way, but it also comes with honesty. Honest work will benefit me in years to come which is why I try my absolute best to learn and comprehend the material being taught. Respect and honesty in both volleyball and academics are two of the most necessary components of a great team and great grades.
