Personal Statement
My name is Anthony Pezzino. I am 6’1 and an Outside Hitter.
I started playing volleyball at age 11. This started with peppering with my sister in the front yard. She then needed a sub for her high school beach league. This is when it hit me “I love this sport”
After this, I started to play regularly with her. My parents then had me try out for a club team at 12. My first year I started on the 14U team. At 15 (this most recent year) I was moved to the 18U team.
As I continued to play, I realized this is more then individual skills and playing, this is a team sport. You need to know your setter, libero and other team members. Learning that communication and encouragement are also a very important part of being a successful team.
In 8th grade I played JV for my high school and was named captain. I was then moved to Varsity my 9th grade year. Starting and playing every game, every set. Also, named co-captain. We won our first trip to sectionals in more than 15 years.
My 9th grade stats were recorded with 133 kills. I was noticed and made 1st Team all conference for SCAC. Proving team building, communication and hard work can make anything possible. My dedication for the next 3 years is to make it to States and win.
My dream is to play a competitive level of indoor and beach while pursuing my degree.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and viewing my video highlights.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Anthony Rossi Pezzino
