Joe Zanelotti '16 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6'2" senior Setter / OH from Williamsville South High School in Williamsville, NY graduating in 2016. I first played high school volleyball in 7th grade (JV), making the varsity team in 8th grade. I was a starter in 9th grade, made all-tournament team in the Lockport tournament and was selected first team all-county.

In my sophomore season, I was selected tournament MVP of the Maryvale tournament. I also led my team to the sectional championship while being nominated for the all regional team, and earning first team all-county honors, leading my team in aces and assists.

Last season, while being a team captain, I was selected to the all-tournament team in the Grand Island tournament and MVP of the Williamsville South tournament, as well as earning the team MVP award for 2014 Williamsville South season. I was first on my team in aces (80), assists (434), hitting% (.367), Kill% (.525) and was second on my team in kills. I was first team all-conference and was nominated for All Western New York.

In my senior season, I paced my team in aces (99), kills (436), hitting% (.455) and kill% (.656). I was selected to the all-tournament team in both the Williamsville South and Lockport tournaments. I was team Captain, team MVP, I received All Western New York (2^nd Team) honors as well as the ECIC II Sportsmanship award. Lastly, on two different occasions, I made WKBW's Super 7 Athlete of the Week (ranked 6th on Oct. 9, and 5th on Nov. 6).

In 5 years on varsity, my teams went 50-10 in ECIC II, and 83-31 overall. I will graduate holding 5 Williamsville South school records, Season Assists (808), Career Assists (1,805), Season Aces (99), Career Aces (285) and Season Kills (436). In fact, my last match as a high school volleyball athlete, I recorded 38 kills and 7 aces.

I have been involved with club volleyball since 5th grade and have 6 seasons of club experience with Eden Mizuno VBC. I have traveled all over the country as I have participated in national qualifiers, East Coast Championships and Boys Junior National Championships. In both 2015 and 2016, I am playing on the 18-1's as setter for Southtown’s VBC.

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am high on character. I believe in TEAM FIRST. I never quit. When I walk off the court, I make sure that when I look back, I know that I had nothing more to give. I consider myself a student of the game who will never stop learning.

I am open to explore opportunities at all college divisions. I am looking for a college that provides a balance of academics and athletics. I am seeking a coach that sees my potential and will help me grow and improve to new levels each year. My goals are to maximize my time at college so that I am as well rounded and prepared for whatever career I ultimately decide to pursue.
