Like everyone, I was upset to hear the news that High Performance and BJNC are canceled this summer. I'm proud to have played on the Vanguard Volleyball Club 17-1 Gold team (#22) this past season (2019-20 club). We were really clicking when we had to shut things down and it would have been really fun to finish out the full season. Nevertheless, I am now looking forward to the opportunities in front of me. I am heading into my junior year. It seems like I just started this sport, but I will be headed toward by fourth season of competitive volleyball. I played middle my first year of club since I was a tall kid. In my second season I learned to play opposite (and some outside) to capitalize on being a lefty. This last season I continued to develop on the opposite as well as a more well-rounded player. I think I've come a long way in a short time and am excited to continue to push my game to new levels. Height, length, vert and agility/good footwork from a life of soccer have definitely helped.
I am proud to have represented the Ohio Valley Region as a leader on its Boys National Select team for the High Performance Championships in each of my first two years playing club. The highlight of my short volleyball career is finishing 3rd place in the Boys National Select division of HP in 2019. My freshman year of high school I was selected first team all-league and second team all-region. I was the only freshman in the state to make first or second team all-region. This year we earned a bid to Nationals and I would have been going to HP again.
Volleyball is my passion now and I am determined to continue to advance to higher levels of play while also preparing for my adult life by pursuing a degree at a well-regarded academic institution. I have taken all honors classes so far and I am taking all honors and AP classes next year, on the Honor Roll, and Academic All-Conference. I received straight As in honors and advanced classes this spring. I recognize my degree will most likely be my key to making a living when I graduate college and am currently thinking about business/finance or a tech/engineering-based career.
