Personal Statement
I grew up playing baseball, football, and basketball, but it wasn't until I started playing volleyball that I began to understand what people meant when they said, "I play for the love of the game." During my 8th grade year, a friend invited me to play on his rec volleyball team at a local gym. Even though I had only played volleyball in gym class at school, I accepted the invitation. I must have looked pretty funny that first night. I was the tallest kid on the court, wasn't sure where to stand, how to serve, or how to rotate in and out. It was a very confusing hour, but even after that first night, I was hooked and wanted to learn how to be better. I loved the camaraderie, the strategy, the pace, and everything about the game itself.
Being left-hand dominant, playing right-side came naturally. I have played two years of club volleyball and two years for my high school team (most recently as a sophomore on the varsity team that went to the State Finals during the alternate Spring season in 2021). I've had private and group lessons and work out with a trainer to increase strength, speed, and agility.
I would like to attend a four-year university with challenging academics. I plan to major in Business with a concentration in Finance. In my spare time, I run my own online eBay store and invest in the stock market. I would like to continue down that path.
