My name is Brodie Sladek, and I am excited to have the opportunity to play for you. Water Polo has allowed me to meet incredible people and to travel to some amazing places. I have played and trained in Malta and Montenegro as well as locally for CC United Club and De La Salle High School. I have also been a part of the ODP Pacific Zone Teams and am proud to have been on the West All Stars at the ODP Nationals. I am also extremely excited to continue my training as part of the NTSC of 2020. These opportunities have allowed me to challenge myself against the best players in my age group in the nation and even internationally. I am looking forward to continuing this at the collegiate level as I compete with and against the best players in the country while getting my degree and hopefully playing in the Olympics one day.
My favorite part of water polo is the physicality of playing 2 MD and the mental challenge of guarding my opposing team's best players. While I can play and will play every position , 2MD is my favorite. This has been my story even when I was a 130 pound freshman guarding 200 pound seniors. Size has never been an issue for me because my skill and my water polo IQ allow me to dominate the situation. I love scoring goals as much as the next player but nothing gives me more satisfaction than taking the leading scorer and shutting him down.
While I have been fortunate to achieve many accolades in water polo I am most proud of my character and how my teammates and coaches speak of me. My favorite compliment a coach ever paid me was telling my parents "I never have to ask Brodie for more. He brings it every day and never takes a play off... let alone a day off"! "He is is the person no one wants to go against in practice because he always goes 100%." I have listed all my coaches and encourage you to reach out to them. I am confident you will hear three consistent themes. 1) Brodie sill has huge upside when he fills out. 2) He is a great teammate with extremely high character. 3) His effort and work ethic are second to none.
Outside of the Pool I was nominated by my teachers to be a mentor at my high school to work with new students and help them to become involved in the ways of De La Salle brotherhood. I volunteer as much as I can in my community with my local chapter of Boys Team Charity and on my own I enjoy working to provide food for at risk populations such as low income kids and the elderly with an organization known as White Pony. I feel like helping others is a responsibility we should all choose to do. I plan to choose a course of study that will enable me to find a career which allows me to do this every day.
If your looking for a player who raises the effort of everyone around him and gets results the right way then I am a great candidate for your team. I am a hard worker, a tenacious defender, and a versatile player that can play any position. I have a passion for this game and am highly coachable and I will be the recruit that exceeds your expectations.
