My first experience with water polo was during a summer four-week clinic with the American River Water Polo Club in 2019. Due to COVID-19, I was unable to play until I was a freshman in high school. I was the backup goalie on the Varsity team and truly fell in love with the sport. As a swimmer for nine years, I already was strong in freestyle and backstroke. When the school water polo season ended, I wanted to keep going. I joined a competitive 16u team as a young 15-year-old and became the starting goalie. We went all the way to Junior Olympics in 2021! I also was starting goalie for my club team, and we went to Kap7 and Junior Olympics in 2022. As a junior in my high school, I was a team captain, made All-League and received the Most Valuable Player for our water polo team. I look forward to what my club, senior year, and then college years of water polo will look like.
