My name is Jacob Harden and I attend Gilroy High School in California. I began playing water polo my freshman year of high school. Prior to my high school athletic career, I developed a liking for baseball while also participating in basketball. These sports helped build a foundation that includes important character traits, team skills, and physical attributes, while also instilling an analytical and meticulous mindset. I realized I could transfer these features to the aquatic environment as well. This enables me to be a leader and communicator during practice and in games. I've learned how to utilize my throwing ability in the pool, both passing and shooting. My awareness, quick reactions, and ability to adapt to various situations allows me to create the best opportunities for my team.
I first began to recognize my passion for the sport of water polo after joining a club team following my sophomore year. Ever since then, I've dedicated my time to bettering my game. During the spring season of my junior year, instead of participating in my childhood sport, I've made the decision to improve my endurance and speed by joining swim. Despite long absences away from the pool due to COVID-19 this past year, I remained dedicated and motivated by pushing myself everyday while the future remained uncertain. I know I will continue to be just as dedicated and motivated as I progress to the collegiate level as both an athlete and student. I plan to pursue a bachelors degree in business and later a masters in economics while hopefully earning the privilege to become a part of the college water polo community. Thank you.
