Sawyer Goldberg '25 Recruiting Profile

As a water polo athlete, I pride myself on being highly coachable. I am always eager to learn new techniques and strategies that will improve my game and I am willing to put in the extra effort required to master them. Whenever a technique is used against me, I adapt quickly and take it as an opportunity to learn and make it my own.

A couple of my proudest achievements were making the Cadet PAC zone team for the 2023 Olympic Development Program (ODP) and placing 14th in the platinum bracket of 2023 JOs as a starter with San Francisco Water Polo Club at the U16 level. This experience has pushed me to become a better athlete both physically and mentally. In my sophomore year I was proud to earn a starting position on the Redwood High School varsity team that finished in the top 25 nationally, and continued to develop my skills and make valuable contributions to the team's success. In the fall of 2023 I started as a key member of the team, helping to secure back to back league titles and an NCS regional title in division 1. I was the top point scorer, tied for most goals, tied for most steals, awarded Co-MVP of the team as well as 1st team All-League (MCAL) and 4th team All-NorCal.

I believe that success in athletics is not limited to the pool, but also extends to academics. As a 2021 and 2022 Academic All-American and member of both the Redwood Honors Society and California Scholarship Federation (CSF), I am committed to excelling in the classroom as well. Currently, I have a weighted GPA of 3.86.

My goal is to find a college where I can continue to grow as an athlete and a student. I am excited about the prospect of working with new coaches and teammates to improve my skills and achieve success at the collegiate level.
