Personal Statement
My collegiate water polo goal is to elevate my level of play in a competitive sport I love while pursuing a business degree. I have been playing water polo for over six years. As team captain, I thrive overcoming pregame butterflies with our team as I lead them through warmups and mental game plans.
The goal to play in college competitively began when I made the USA Water Polo Development National Team in my freshman year while at St. Francis High School varsity team as a co-starter. I later transferred to Palo Alto High School where I was a starter as a sophomore. With my team's support, I was a two-year captain in my junior and senior year. I also helped the team win the league championship and recognized as the league's MPV two years straight.
I now completely understand the importance of being a student-athlete. Challenging as it may be, I work hard to keep a good balance between my studies and sports. Being an A- student, I believe the courses I’ve taken build the foundation to pursue a finance or entrepreneurship career. It is important that I continue to hone my business and presentation skills by entering into entrepreneurship competitions: Winning 1st prize at the 2022 Global Youth Entrepreneurship Competition U.S Final and ranked top 100 Global High School Entrepreneurial Business Pitches for Blue Ocean's 2021-2022 High School Entrepreneur Pitch Competition.
Beyond commitments in academics and water polo, I am involved in operating my Amazon FBA business, focusing on night and celestial photography, and building hundreds of cubbies and shelves for the Bring The Book Foundation, activities I plan to continue in college.
Regardless of where the next chapter brings me, my tenacity to "Think Big" enables a growth mindset to grasp opportunities as challenges arise and to learn from mistakes big and small. With my teammates, I will succeed in the pool collegiately while gaining invaluable knowledge to become a successful entrepreneur.
