Cole Sjoblom '22 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6.1 Varsity player that also plays Club year round.  I was MVP on the JV team as a freshman and moved up to varsity as a sophomore and became a starter immediately.  I played on the 16U Santa Cruz Club Team that won Gold in the Kap7 tournament in Irvine 2/20 - right before Covid hit.  While playing with Santa Cruz during the last 2 years I practiced in the ocean while all the pools were closed 3x per week .  Once the pools opened, we practiced 3-4x per week and I also attended the Masters Level practice to challenge myself and develop more as a leader on my team.  My Kap7 team changed clubs but I stayed with Santa Cruz because I felt the coaching was player specific and the opportunity to develop as a leader would be available.  As a junior we were able to play limited games, but I was awarded Offensive Player of the year for my team.  As a senior, I am captain of my team and play 99.9% of each game.  I enjoy taking on any position needed in the game, but typically play wing (attacker), Center (D), and Point.  I am averaging 4+ goals and 3 steals per game.  I enjoy moving the ball around and providing guidance to those less experienced and the opportunity to score a goal when they are open.  I am unsure of what I want to study in college, but am leaning towards education because I like to teach and coach.  I am open to any level of collegiate play, and want to find a team where I can be challenged and a coach that will continue to prioritize my development athletically and academically.   At the end of the season I was pivotal in helping my team earn a spot in CCS Playoffs - something that had not happened in 7 years.  I was awarded Offensive Player of the Year and also First Team All League.
