Personal Statement
Finding success in an aquatics program has been a new inspiration as an athlete. I tried out for my high school water polo team in Freshman year to condition for my main sport, lacrosse. This new sport was a surprise because the level of competition and skill was higher than I had experienced previously. Although aquatics is still relatively new to me (in comparison to other athletes in the area), I have found the new skills to come pretty naturally. My goal is to continue building my skill level in college while also maintaining high academic performance in a rigorous engineering curriculum. What will I bring to the college level? A strong dedication to working hard, looking for ways to improve, listening to teammates and coaches, with a keen focus on my overall improvement. On my own, I am up at 5:00 am to train with a coach multiple times each week before school to improve my endurance and strength. This is on top of a full and rigorous academic schedule as well as a daily swim and water polo schedule in the afternoons and evenings. This dedication goes year around with club teams and personal training. Most of all, I look to have fun in competitive play with my team members and support their growth so we all win as a team.
