Hi I'm Grant!
I started playing water polo as a freshman. I enjoyed the sport and wanted to get better, so I played year round and doubled with swimming. Come sophomore year I was one of 2 sophomores selected to the varsity team. As a junior, I was elected team captain, and all-SCVAL Second Team while also leading my team in goals scored and ejections drawn.
I am very diligent and passionate about the sport, showing up early and staying in late every practice. I'm a creative player and I always look for new and different ways to improve. I watch high level games to better understand the sport, frequently analyze my own games to find my shortcomings, and research online resources to elevate my abilities. For example, I found and signed myself up for the Azevedo Winter Academy, from which I learned many crucial skills. In addition to growing myself as a player, I love mentoring my peers and watching them grow and improve.
Saratoga High School is one of the most competitive high schools in the country and I studied hard, earning a 3.7 GPA and scoring a 35 on the ACT. I'm also a part of the school's History Bowl team, which won 5th out of over 100 teams in 2018.
Apart from water polo, I am also a part of the school's rocketry club, which qualified for the Team America Rocketry Challenge Nationals in 2019. As I kid I enjoyed playing chess, and I'm an officer in the school chess club.
I’m looking forward to attending a college that allows me to grow my passions, both in the classroom and in the pool.
