Personal Statement
My endless love for the pool and constantly being around the water led to the beginning of my athletic career when I joined my first swim team when I was nine years old. Friends on my team played water polo and practiced at the same pool as the swim team; watching the practices and hearing about the sport from my friends I decided to give it a try. As soon as I jumped in the pool for my first practice I immediately fell in love and knew water polo was my sport. I have been playing club water polo with the Rocky Mountain Neptunes for over 5 years and in my sophomore year of high school my school joined the first ever high school water polo season in Colorado. Although my team won the state championship, the best part of the season was how me and my new teammates grew as a team and as friends.
When I first began water polo I had no idea how far it could take me as an athlete and as a person. The sport has given me a team first attitude as well as forcing me to balance my time while I spent as much time at the pool as possible and maintained straight A’s. I began playing Water polo because it was a fun way to stay active and busy; but, it has also served as a valuable learning experience and been the perfect outlet for my competitive and hardworking personality which is why I continue to play. My goal is to continue my water polo career at a university where I can also further my academics and become prepared for life after school.
