Personal Statement
Aloha, my name is Jaime Bhattacharyya and I am a 17-year-old rising senior (class of 2023) at Mid-Pacific in Honolulu Hawaii. I primarily play as a driver and 2M defender.
My coaches describe me as very "coachable" since starting in 2018 and I worked my way up to the Youth National Team in 2021. I improved steadily each year and supplemented my water polo training, weight training, and competitive swimming. In addition to being very coachable, my coaches always comment on my potential as I have great length, conditioning, and determination, and apply feedback directly into my game.
As captain of the Varsity 1 team this year at Mid-Pacific Institute, I have enjoyed the teamwork, camaraderie, and sharing my own experience and skills with the rest of the team. For me, water polo is a very fun and competitive sport as it requires excellent communication to be successful by putting the team over yourself.
This past summer I played for Del Mar 18u under Tommy Corcoran. In Jo’s we placed 15th in the platinum division. In addition I went to Croatia with Tony Azevedo‘s all star team for 10 days training and competing in Dubrovnik. Overall this past summer I improved my water polo iq and played at a high level of water polo.
Mahalo, Jaime
