Personal Statement
When I first entered the pool at age 5, I immediately fell in love with water sports. I've been swimming competitively ever since. I also played competitive basketball for 5 years during grade school, thanks to being one of the tallest for my age. Then, in eighth grade this got taken to another level when I was introduced to water polo. The game came naturally to me, and water polo instantly took over as my favorite sport and I've been playing it ever since year-round.
Water polo comes naturally to me, and as a senior I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season, My physical size, wingspan, speed in the water, and endurance give me a significant advantage in water polo. All of those years playing basketball have really helped when it comes to playing great defense, moving the ball, seeing the open man, and hustling on fast breaks.
My specialties are center defense, point, and 5 meter shots. Last year as a junior I led my team as captain, MVP, and also led in goals scored and assists. My center defense has risen to another level and I routinely hold the other top players to zero or almost zero scoring. Defense is a combination of skill, desire, and endurance and I possess all three.
Outside of California and the Northeast, we play some incredibly competitive water polo in the Chicago area. Many local players have gone on to play D1 college water polo, and that's my goal. After the Carlisle, PA combine and junior olympics this summer, I'm confident I'm playing at a D1 level and one of the top seniors in the state of Illinois.
During COVID, I've worked out consistently in our awesome home gym, gained weight and muscle, and am ready to get in the pool as team captain for senior swim season (both swim and water polo). I'm a team leader, as shown in the videos, and I bring an incredible work ethic to the table. My grades, size, speed and ability to play both ways set me apart and I'd love to talk to coaches looking for a player like me.
