The splash of the bright yellow ball in the water, the ring of the whistle through the air, and the burn in my legs as I create a vortex of water beneath me strong enough to not only support my body but to lift it out of the water. It's these little things that make me addicted to the game of water polo and all of its highs and lows. However, I understand the commitment of playing water polo at the collegiate level. My mindset isn't such that I think I'm the best player in the state of Michigan nor the best player in the region nor the best player on my team. What I strive for is improvement. Everyday I ask myself, "Is that the best you can do?" and "How is this going to make you better?". With this mindset, I have been able to overcome many challenges and quickly progressed into a strong goalie and leader. Coming from a small town in Michigan, playing water polo in college is an extremely rare opportunity. This is why I’ve started trying to get into contact with water polo programs early. I’m hoping to find a coach that is willing to invest in not only my water polo skills, but in the future of their program. College water polo coaches know which decisions will improve my water polo skills and know what will be the best use of my time and resources to become the skilled player they want. I’m hoping to establish a contact that can streamline my training because I am willing to work day in and day out to constantly improve my abilities as a water polo goalie.
