Personal Statement
My name is Leif Massey and I am a deeply passionate individual. I have high regard when it comes to my academic performance, while also creating a successful future at a university regards to my water polo resume. My wingspan is presently 6'5" and I am 6'0". I am 15 years old and I am of Norwegian descent and expected to be 6'4" - 6'5". I am also a swimmer. Below you will find some of my awards, activities, academic records, swim records as well as what I am looking for in a University and future endeavors.

Academic Awards:
Northwestern University Midwest Academic Talent Search Recognition Award for both SAT and ACT scores on tests. MSU Hats Off Recognition Awards for 31 in reading on ACT and high score in 8th grade/9th grade MSU Spartan Water Polo Junior Olympics 2017 National Honor Society (above 3.8 GPA) Honor Roll (above 3.75) KLAA Athlete Award for academic achievement Varsity Swim and Dive 2016 - 2017 school year Made State Cuts for Breast Stroke - 6th out of 8th placement after 2.5 years of swimming Honor Roll (5 years) USA WP Academic - pending notification Varsity Water Polo 2017 school year - Goalie
Extracurricular Notes:
Plays bass for a band called Red Handed, likes to attend Concerts - U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc... Volunteers for community Hikes/Camping, Travels - Norway for a month, Backpacks, Kayaks, Swimming/Water Polo, Reading.
Academics and current standing:
My GPA is 4.03 out of 4.0 and my current class rank is in the top 6% (40/657). On the ACT in 8th grade, I had a score of 25 and in 9th grade, I had a 27. I have received recognition from MSU/NWU. I have also taken the SAT and earned 1410/1600. I have also received recognition from MSU and Northwestern University NUMATS for their Gifted and Talented Program.
As far as my swim records and water polo career, I have only been in the water for 2 seasons and my times are as follows:

Water polo is my passion and I am working on my goal of attending a University that I will continue to play and progress as a player. My strength for my team is I am very strategic, level-headed and fair. I am a positive influence on all of my teammates and will help them as much as they help me. We work as a well-oiled machine and it takes all of us to be successful, I feel good being a large part of that success.
What I hope to get out of my college success is, of course, my degree in Aeronautical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering and then the ability to possibly pursue further career goals playing water polo.
