Personal Statement
My name is Patrick Periard, I have been swimming competitively from age eight, and playing polo competitively from age ten. I would like to play water polo in college because not only am I passionate and committed to the sport but I also would like to further my athletic and academic careers throughout college. There are many aspects that make me a good water polo player. I am very determined: I don't miss practices for months at a time, and when I show up, I show up ready to work. Another aspect that makes me a good water polo player is that I am a leader. Being a leader to me means leading by example, always giving one hundred and ten percent and vocalizing concerns for the entirety of the team. The third aspect that makes me a good water polo player is that I have the work ethic to go far in the sport. Everyday I show up to work and ready to go. Finally, the last aspect that makes me a stand-out water polo player are my academics. I have a 4.0 GPA unweighted and 4.30 GPA when weighted. Additionally, as a freshman, I am taking courses meant for seniors and freshman in college as I am taking Precalculus/Calculus A. Overall, whether its in swim, water polo, or swim, I have worked to come to where I am today and am looking to continue my academic and athletic careers in college as a water polo player.
