NCSA Recruiting

Paul Brenegan, Senior Recruiting Specialist

University of South Dakota

Athletics has been a significant part of my life since I was a young child. My father was a college basketball coach and athletic director. His passion and experience propelled me down the path of competing in college athletics. I realized the tremendous impact it had in my life and the many others he coached. As an athlete, I had the opportunity to play college basketball at the University of South Dakota and participate on one of the top Division II teams in the country. After transferring closer to home to Loras College, I finished my playing career and received my degree in math education.

My passion for athletics, leadership and competition persisted with me after college and led me into my college coaching career. As a result, I had the privilege of coaching basketball and golf at Loras College and North Park University for 16 years. During that time, I successfully recruited athletes from 27 different states and six different countries. Throughout the many successes in my coaching career, the most impactful and memorable are the relationships I developed with my players and the opportunity to watch them progress through their lives. It is remarkable to see the transformation of 18-year-old freshmen to productive young men and women with careers and families of their own. Realizing the direct impact that college athletics has played in the development of their lives is truly rewarding.

Since I began working at NCSA six years ago, I have brought that same passion and energy to helping families through the recruiting process. It is exciting for me to share my knowledge and answer the many questions that families may have as they start down their own path. As the father of two young children, I understand wanting to provide them with opportunities for success. Being able to compete in college athletics is a life-changing experience. I want to ensure that all qualified athletes have the best guidance and resources available to achieve those goals and find the best fit academically and athletically as they embark on their own recruiting journey.
