Personal Statement
My name is Jaclyn Jayo and I am a senior at Liberty High school. I have lived in Arizona all of my life. I began playing travel softball at the age of seven and quickly developed a passion for the sport. My primary position is catcher. Standing at 5'3", 150 pounds, I am often underestimated in the position. Through hard work, extra practices, and additional drills, I have proven to my teammates that I belong behind the plate. I also am a utility player when needed, with experience in the outfield and at third base. I am a consistant hitter with a 0.490 high school career batting average. I consider myself a strong leader on the field and have handled the position as captain the past two years at Liberty High School as well. I am a huge supporter of my teammates. If someone is having a bad day, I will do my best to talk to them and help them refocus. Some of my athletic accomplishments include 2011 4A-2nd Team All State, 2011 Az Republics All-West Valley Softball Team, 2011 1st Team All Region, 2011 Offensive Player for Team, 2011 AIA Scholar Athletic Award, 2010 4A2 Sky Line Regional Champions, 2010 1st Team All Region, 2010 Player of the Year All Region, 2010 Team MVP, 2010 4A AllState Honorable Mention, 2010 AIA Scholar Athletic Award, 2009 4A2 All Region Honorable Mention, 2009 AIA Scholar Athletic Award, and 2010- JC Showcase TCS All- Star Game MVP. My dream is to play collegiate softball at a high academic institution in any division. I am a strong student with a 4.3 weighted G.P.A. and test scores including a 31 ACT and a 1960 SAT. I would like to attend school on the east coast in order to bring myself closer to the heart of our country's politics, which I hope to focus my studies on in college. My family does not have the finances to send me to a university . I am working my hardest to help us find financial aid through academics or athletics. Realistically, I do not expect to walk into a university as the starting catcher for the team. I simply hope to get the chance to continue playing the game I love, and with hard work, eventually earn my chance to play.
