Personal Statement
Hello Coaches!
My name is Maddie Fisher and I am a 2020 Grad Year player. I’m currently in the 10th grade at Ann Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, CA. My primary positions are Catcher, 3rd & 1st, but am happy to play wherever the team needs me. I’m taking all College Prep classes. I'm involved with Homecoming Comitee, FFA, the Yearbook Staff and Softball. I enjoy all outdoor activities (Camping, Archery, Fishing, Boating, Hiking), traveling, listening to music, reading mystery/suspense novels, animals, volunteering for the United Way and spending time with family & friends.
My goal is to continue to get stronger, improve my skills, be the best teammate I can be, play softball at the collegiate level, but most important get a good education towards my future.
I've had to overcome quite a bit in the past 2 years. In August 2015, right at the start of my 8th grade year, I had brain surgery. It was unexpected and a very scary time for my family and I. I missed a big chunk of school that year and missed playing the Fall Season. Once I was cleared, I have been working with a physical therapist , a trainer and my doctors to help me rehab physically. I had to work harder than others to earn my playtime back. The mental and emotional comeback was much harder, since my confidence in myself was low and I was extremely nervous I could be hurt again. It took some time to mentally get my head right. I decided that bottom line "I want to play!". I had to swallow my fears and doubts and follow my heart and get out of my own head. Basically, just sucked it up because I didn't want fear to limit what I loved to do. I'm working closely with my teachers, School Councelor, tutors, trainers and coaches this year to #1 get my GPA up and #2 get physically and mentally stronger. I struggled my Freshman year with my grades and realized that the school I missed in 8th grade, caught up to me in 9th grade. This year I've already improved my GPA a whole point & my goal is to improve to keep at least a 3.5 GPA going forward.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
