First of all, I am very fortunate and grateful. Fortunate to have supportive parents who put a roof over my head and will do anything to help me become happy and successful. Fortunate to have great family, friends and teammates who lift me up. And I am grateful for the opportunities I am provided and do my best to take advantage of those opportunities. And if I can't see the opportunity, I do my best to find it.
I want to go to college, but haven't decided what I want to study yet. I'm still learning and exploring my options, and I understand things can always change. I'm open to stay in-state or go out of state, I just want to find a school that feels like a great fit. I'm grateful that softball may give me the opportunity to go to a university I may not have even dreamed of. And I'm thrilled that college will give me a chance to continue competing.
My primary positions are pitcher and first base. I think I'm a pretty good pitcher and I throw multiple pitches well, but I know there's room to get better and I work at that. When I'm not pitching I'm at first base, and I field my position well. But I'm happy to play any position if coach asked me. I hit for both power and average, and I've developed a pretty good eye for balls and strikes, so I tend to get on base a lot. I normally bat 4-5 in the lineup which is pretty cool, because we have a strong hitting team.
I talk and help keep spirits up and communicate on the field, but I'm not the biggest talker. I mainly like to lead by example. Sometimes I'm really focused and my coaches have to remind me to smile. I just get very focused when I'm out on the field or in the classroom, and I want to do everything I can to learn from my experiences and get better. But I'm working at talking more.
I like school but I'm not a genius, so I have to work extra hard to get good grades. I've worked hard to improve my organization and study habits, and that's made a big difference. I understand that self-discipline leads to success, so I know like with softball, my best academics are ahead of me.
It feels a little weird to talk about myself, but I think I'm a good teammate with a respectful attitude. I'm never part of any cliques and make it a point to support & encourage all of my teammates. I love softball and work hard to win, and if we don't win or if I have a bad game I want to learn and be better for next time. I love being challenged because that's the best way to improve. I'm excited about what the future holds.
