Personal Statement
I am a senior at high school at Glenwood Springs high school in Colorado. My love for my sports has inspired me to continue to play softball throughout my college years, and I hope to continue to learn and grow as a student athlete and a person through my athletics. I strive to work hard to maintain my goals in not just my sports but in school and life as well.
I have two siblings and two parents parents who despite being divorced have put their differences aside to make a wonderful, opportunity filled life style for both my older brother and I. My older brother is currently 18 and has been an amazing role model and inspiration to me as an athlete and student. He has supported my growth through out my life. I also have younger sister who is only a year old. She is a daily inspiration to continue to grow as a person.
I have been playing softball since I was eight years old and have never fallen out of love with it. I have experience at all the positions in the field excluding first base. I will gladly play anywhere I am needed, though I primarily play second base. I currently play for two teams, my high school team and my club team the Grand Junction Drillers. The high school that I attend does not have a team so I have to travel to Basalt high school which is 45 minute drive from my school, for daily practices. While it is difficult, the long drives only serves as a motivator for me to work harder on and off the field to continue to have the opportunity to play ball with in my valley. And my club team is an amazing program which I am very lucky to be a part of, they provide the opportunity to grow as a player no matter the situation, we do winter practices to refine our individual skills, then we travel as a team to tournaments that will challenge our skills, inspiring us to continue to work hard together as a team.
I will bring great attitude and effort to my team and teammates. I pride my self on my unconditional support for my fellow players. I am open to meeting and playing with all athletes and will support them through slumps along with their positive streaks. I will encourage my team to stay positive no matter the situation and will continue to cheer on my team mates even if I am not on my best game that day. My last season I received two awards from my teammates and coaches that exemplify my ability to support my team mates, I received the "Gunslinger" award for working hard during practices and games along with supporting my fellow outfielders through out the season. I also received the "Spirit Award" for staying loud and supportive in the dugout, cheering on my team through out the games.
