Personal Statement
Earning a college degree will allow me to reach my goal of securing a job that would ensure my own economic independence. At the same time, I hope to be able to continue to play the game I love. Softball has provided me with many life lessons over the years, all of which will prepare me for life's ups and downs. I always represent my school with honor, pride and enthusiasm. I am a multidimensional team player that has played every position on my high school and travel teams except pitcher and catcher. I am continually striving to improve my game and willing to accept constructive criticism. I consider myself a leader and a positive influence on my teams. Team loyalty and respect for my coaches, teammates, and myself are character traits that I will always pursue to the highest degree possible.
I grew up in a small town that prides itself on hard work and dedication. My high school is the one of smallest public schools in the state of Delaware, yet consistently produces elite athletic teams and has been recognized for its academIc success. It has been instilled in me by my parents the value of hard work. Both my parents have post graduate degrees and the value of education as a cornerstone of success has always been stressed in my home.
I envision my collegiate career as one that will challenge me, shape me, and prepare me to become a productive contributor of society. My interests are far and wide, ranging from Elementary Education to Nursing. Whatever educational path I choose, I realize it is I who controls my own destiny. I will use the physical and mental tools I have acquired thus far in sports and the classroom to be the prospective student -athlete who is the complete package.
Thank You for your interest.
