Carolina Acosta '13 Recruiting Profile

Hi I'm Carolina Acosta, but I'm more commonly known as Nina. I am at a height of 5 feet 8 inches and I currently weigh 145lbs.  I am currently attending Miami Springs Senior High School and I will be graduating in the year 2013. Ever since I was a little girl and first started playing softball, my dream was always to play at the college level and I am very excited that that time in my life is right around the corner. Since I am about to be a Junior in high school this year, the information I can say about myself regarding achievements and such is still in a way pending, due to the fact that I still have 2 more years of playing at the high school level to go. What I can say about myself is that I am a very hard and motivated worker and I always strive to be the best that I can be at pretty much everything I set out to do. During my time at Miami Springs Middle School I was named Female Scholar Athlete of the Year all 3 years and I was also named Team MVP during my 8th grade year. In addition, I was the team captain in my 8th grade year and along with my team we were able to capture our school's first ever Dade County Championship. It was a wonderful moment in my life and it will forever remain in my heart. Moving on to high school, in my first year as a freshman I not only made the Varsity team but I also secured the starting position at 3rd base. We had a pretty good year and we were able to defeat Coral Gables High School to win the District Championship. It was definitely a great way to begin my high school career. Last year in my sophomore year, I improved my batting average from the previous year (up to .481) and finished the regular season as 9th in batting in the 6A division going 25-52. I am looking to have an even better year this year and improve upon my sophomore season's performance. As far as college goes I am looking at both in-state (Florida) and out of state as well, although if it is out of state I would prefer cool-to-cold climates rather than hot and humid climates.  D1 or D2 is what I'm looking at, wherever I have the best chance of playing and making an impact on my team. I'm thinking of studying Sports Management or Business Administration & Marketing, or if i am able to combine the two in my studying that would be even better! I am definitely open to different types of schools as far as big or small goes and also if it's Christian or non-christian as long as the denomination does not have a direct influence on my studies, meaning that I would not have to mandatorily study the religion. I am very excited to begin the descent into my College career and I look forward to hearing from any schools that may be interested in me.
