I have been playing softball since I was three years old and I can truly say it has always been my passion. My parents should have known something when I tried to throw kids out in tee ball. Rec ball season was the greatest 10 weeks of my life! I spent the rest of the year asking my parents how much longer until softball season started again! When I was 12 years old, I began playing travel ball and life has never been the same since.
I always give 100% on and off the field. I expect everyone else to do the same but realize not all players do. I have learned to be a team leader. I know the coach is counting on me to make plays and to keep my teammate's spirits up no matter how the game is going. I don't believe in giving up no matter what the score is. I also know that it takes a team to win a game and we all have a role to play every time we take the field. I consider my team a part of my family.
My family and I have been very committed to my softball future for the past four years. We live in a very rural area that doesn't offer travel softball. My parents found a team and we travel about 120-150 miles round trip to practice. I also have taken lessons from SBA in Tallahassee for four years. That is a 150 miles round trip for lessons once a week. I've never missed a travel ball practice since I started playing. I've never missed a tournament for travel ball unless I was playing school ball. I've only missed school ball practice to play in the World Series. I believe all of my coaches would tell you that I'm a hard worker; a leader; am coachable; am competitive; and have a positive attitude. I jokingly tell people that I have no social life because softball is my life! My family and I schedule my activities around softball. It comes first no matter what!
I'm a good student and actively participate in student organizations such as HANDS, Beta Club, and Student Council. I have served as an officer in several. I volunteer to help in community and church activities involving children. I give 100% in my classwork also. I know what I have to do to keep good grades and I plan my time accordingly. It is my dream to play softball in college. I just need to find the right match for me and for them. In the meantime, I'm going to keep working hard academically and athletically and enjoying every time I step out on the field living my dream!
