Personal Statement
My personal goal is to play at a competitive level in college while achieving my degree in business and preparing for my career. I love competition and I want to be part of a program where I can contribute and add value in a competitive way. I want to be on a team that pushes each other and sets the bar high because I'm willing to out-work, out-hustle and out-smart the competition to reach our teams' goals. My favorite position is center field but I'm willing to play wherever the coach and team need me most. I am naturally right-handed but on the recommendation of the high school coach, because of my quickness and speed, my parents switched me to a left-side hitter when I was eight years old, so I've been hitting, bunting and slapping for 8 of my 9 years playing softball.
When I was in grade school I rode my bike to the High School ball field after school every day during the spring and begged the coach to let me shag balls or carry equipment or be a base runner so they could practice real game scenarios. I now play for that coach and love the game as much or more than I did then. He often gives me the green light when I'm at the plate to read the defense and decide myself how to get on base, and I love the rush of accomplishing that task!
As a person, I'm an organizer, a planner and I like structure. I am pretty social and enjoy being around people but I always prioritize my homework and practice before my social life. I don't work during the school year because of basketball and softball but during the summer I umpire for a summer-league because it helps me earn a little gas money and I still get to be on the ball field!
