Personal Statement
My name is Maleah Warren from Stillman Valley, Illinois. I am in the Class of 2026. I have been playing softball since I was 5 years old and though I am involved in several very competitive sports, I absolutely love playing softball. I have played on travel teams since I have been 8 years old and have normally played up a level to be with my sister. I have an older friend that played Division 1 softball for Northern Illinois University, who I have watched often, and that motivated me to want to play at the college level. I have predominately been a third baseman or short-stop over the years but, due to my speed and ability to quickly judge the flight of the ball, I have been developing my skills in the outfield in preparation of playing softball in high school. My speed also helps me to steal a lot of bases.
I am a very motivated player and listen to everything my coaches tell me to utilize what I have learned on the field. I am very critical of my own game performance and work at becoming a better player to correct the skills that need developing. I attend softball camps, use private coaches, and have attended special classes for speed training.
I also take pride in my studies and have maintained a high grade point average. I plan on taking college courses while in high school to prepare myself for the hard work that it takes to succeed in life. I plan on becoming a crime scene investigator or working in a forensic laboratory and will be taking the supporting science courses in college.
